Responsible Media Outreach: The Vanishing of the Bees

Last April’ EW launched its 1st Responsible Media Press Conferences on “Bees, Bio-Diversity and Food Security” to raise awareness and pro-active solutions to the emerging crisis via responsible media groups. Being the first press event in the USA to address Colony Collapse Disorder it aired that day on the local NBC (KNBC) station and also on the cover of the LA Times Homes Section.

“Through this event, EW teamed up with eco-activists and film makers, Maryam Henein and George Langworthy to produce The Vanishing of the Bees, an investigative documentary on the plight of the honey bees.”

The film, which is an official program of Empowerment Works, takes a piercing investigative look at the economic, political and spiritual implications of the world wide disappearance of the honeybee, a mysterious ecological tragedy that could topple our food chain and forever change our way of life.

More about the bees…

The Problem with the Bees
There are indications that the honey bee populations are dramatically going down all over the planet. Given the key role of the bees in sustaining life as we know, many people are concerned. Without the bees, there would be no fruits and vegetables and life would not exist as we know it. In Hawaii right now they are facing a crisis with the Varroa mite. It landed in Oahu for the first time and they are planning to kill ALL the bees on the entire island.

What The Vanishing Bees Documentary will Look Like when Completed
The film will take probing look at the entire beekeeping industry, including looking at possible adverse affects of the industrialization of agriculture such as the use of pesticides and Genetically Modified Organisms.

About the Project
The Vanishing of the Bees is a film produced by Hive Mentality Films and is an official project of Empowerment Works.

As a Responsible Media - Partner in Empowerment (PIE), Hive Mentality Films is working with EW to develop educational content.

This collaborative project builds on the Responsible Media Forum/Press Conference titled Bees: The Last Threshold which examined the plight of the bees and their key role in sustaining life on earth that we organized in April. The event brought experts in the LA region together to discuss the situation and also possible solutions.
