Greater
than the Sum of its Parts
Whether
a media group leads a cause-based marketing campaign to stop AIDS,
a university creates greener
technology, or an artist inspires a child in need, social, economic,
and environmental impact is deepened through collaboration of
six
mutually supportive PIE sectors.
Comprised
of Social
Entrepreneurs, Collaborating Non-profits, Educational Institutions,
Sustainable Businesses, Responsible Media Groups
and Artists
in Action,
EW Partners
in Empowerment™
understand, that by
bringing the best of our resources and ideas to the table, we
build a better world for humanity.
Partners
in Empowerment™
(PIE)
is an international social and economic forum, united in action
for a sustainable world.
Following
the EW 7 Stage Approach, PIE
harnesses
the expertise and resources of this
ecologically inspired
participatory
network to
promote community-based solutions.
Where
do you see yourself in the PIE?
PIE Forum >
The Global Summit
Over
the past several years, "Partners In Empowerment" (PIE)
was a friendly term for collaborating non-profits and private-sector
supporters.
Now,
through The Global Summit 2008 EW is activating
the official "PIE membership Forum" and multi-sector
collaboration framework.
To
advance The Global Summit programming, and sector specific "Proclamations",
empowering each member to collaborate at their highest potential,
EW has developed a comprehensive base-line evaluation and input
survey.
To
participate in this survey as
a program partner,
e-mail: think@empowermentworks.org.
1pie.org
To
catalyze PIE collaboration, and channel outcomes of The Global
Summit into local action, EW is developing the 1pie.org online
portal with like-minded Information & Communication Technology
(ICT) visionaries.
The
1pie.org portal will be a virtual mirror of The Global Summit
and most importantly, will harness the power of communications
technology to create global grass-roots access to it.
1pie.org
will empower members via:
1.
Local action calendars with cultural arts events, educational
workshops, sustainable business promotions and publications;
2.
Critical Mass (Policy, Action & Public Awareness) Campaigns
uniting like-minded groups;
3.
Online Eco-Mall fueling PIE community
initiatives;
4.
Appropriate technology database supporting transfer to local
program areas & partners;
5.
Program Collaboration tools supporting local needs assessments
& facilitating Private, Public & Voluntary participation
for greater impact.

Why
PIE
All
sectors of society have the power to advance global solutions,
but when only working in their own sector, there is limited exchange
capacity. By integrating complimentary local and global partners
in mutually-supportive collaborations (doing what they already
do best), EW achieves greater results with minimal cost.
While
there have been many social and economic forums dedicated to global
sustainability in brilliantly diverse inter-disciplinary
themes, none has been attempted in such a multi-sector
format.
Rather
than emphasizing diverse issues or topics such as health, economics,
ecology, etc. PIE emphasizes peoples ROLES based on what we have
to contribute- these roles are universal and can be applied to
any challenge a community or region faces.
*EW
offers a multi-sector capacity building
workshop for individuals, non-profits, businesses. The dynamic
role-play exchange between diverse economic sectors strengthens
communication and collaboration skills in participants' social
and economic partnerships.
Evolution of the PIE Multi-sector Framework
The
Partners In Empowerment™ Multi-sector Framework for Collaboration
is based upon the proven virtues of adaptive, whole system Complexity
Science models. The simplified PIE model was developed by
Empowerment Works as a methodology for diverse local and global
communities to resolve critical threats to human and environmental
security. It serves as a template for universally applicable inclusion
of six core social and economic sectors.
While
the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Buckminster
Fuller Institute’s Design Science Lab, the Clinton Global Initiative
and other visionary groups are recognizing the value of Inter-Sectoral
Partnering (ISP) and other multi-sector methodologies in solving
global challenges, the core idea is based in the very essence
of our evolution. While our last 5000 years is marked by totalitarian
agriculture, and more recent industrial specialization, fueling
top-down linear thinking, mutually-supportive collaboration has
enabled humanity to survive and thrive over the millennium. PIE
stands for a new era of consciousness reclaiming our sustainable
patterns of ecological inter-dependence, while capitalizing upon
the advances of science and appropriate technology, to advance
localized solutions for a sustainable world.
Together
We Can.
